Sodium Silicate | Penguin Pottery

 25,60

Penguin Pottery’s sodium silicate solution is used to deflocculate casting clay (i.e., to prevent clumping). This solution is water-soluble and is made with soda and silica. Over time, gypsum will absorb the solution and cause it to deteriorate or erode. Sodium silicate can also be used to create a crackle texture on ceramic surfaces. Please note that sodium silicate will be damaged if it freezes or is stored at low temperatures.

Description

Penguin Pottery glazes offer a vast range of effects to choose from: vibrant, bright, smooth, glossy, textured, satiny, matte; opaque, semi-opaque, translucent, transparent, fluid, non-fluid. The low-fire glazes are perfect for school projects, classrooms, studios, and potters who do not fire at high temperatures. These low-fire glazes are the choice of potters looking for a broad color palette, such as celadon, vibrant red, deep green, and bright blue. The mid-fire glazes offer similar possibilities but also introduce interesting effects and shades not available in low-fire glazes. The glazes are lead-free, non-toxic, and food-safe (provided they are fired and tested properly). Please note: this does not apply to the Glow-in-the-Dark glazes!! Shake the bottle well before use and do not allow it to freeze.
