Penguin Pottery Potter’s Water, also known as “magic water,” is useful when you want to attach one piece of clay to another. For example, it is used to attach handles, prevent cracks, and improve adhesion at the points where clay is joined.
ATTACHING HANDLES
Attaching handles can be challenging because one pot or handle may be slightly drier than the other, which can cause cracks or the handle to come loose. Potter’s Water helps create a strong bond when attaching handles.
SPIRAL FORMING
When hand-building clay pots using coiled spirals, you can use Potter’s Water to prevent the spirals from sticking together and blending. Potter’s Water helps you maintain the distinctive appearance of the coils without applying excessive pressure, and strengthens the bond between the coils.
ATTACHING CLAY TILES
Clay tiles are prone to cracking at the seams during drying or firing. By using Potter’s Water instead of plain water or clay slip, you can achieve a stronger bond and prevent these cracks.
Penguin Pottery glazes offer a vast range of effects to choose from: vibrant, bright, smooth, glossy, textured, satiny, matte; opaque, semi-opaque, translucent, transparent, fluid, non-fluid. The low-fire glazes are perfect for school projects, classrooms, studios, and potters who do not fire at high temperatures. These low-fire glazes are the choice of potters looking for a broad color palette, such as celadon, vibrant red, deep green, and bright blue. The mid-fire glazes offer similar possibilities but also introduce interesting effects and shades not available in low-fire glazes. The glazes are lead-free, non-toxic, and food-safe (provided they are fired and tested properly). Please note: this does not apply to the Glow-in-the-Dark glazes!! Shake the bottle well before use and do not allow it to freeze.
