Melt Gloop is a stoneware glaze designed to be applied in dots or to create a dripping effect on your ceramic piece.

Cone 10: More movement and texture.

GENERAL USE
Before application: Stir
the product thoroughly with a stick, palette knife, or the tip of your brush, as it is very thick in the container. For better adhesion, lightly moisten the bisque surface with a sponge before applying. Effects are achieved by applying the glaze with a syringe or squeeze bottle. For precision, a ceramic glaze syringe with a cap or the Mayco AC220 Detailer Tips and Bottle is recommended. When cutting the Detailer Tip, be careful not to cut it too short, as this can affect the control and flow of the glaze during application.

Base Application
: Apply dots of varying thicknesses and patterns to unfired or soft-fired, cone 04 stoneware bisque (1940°F/1060°C). For more movement and a dripping effect, apply larger dots to a vertical surface. The glaze may flow over textured surfaces. Shake your application tool continuously during use to remove air bubbles that can disrupt the glaze’s flow and cause an uneven texture or splatter. Allow the glaze to dry. It is recommended that you fire your piece as soon as possible to prevent problems with glaze adhesion. Fire at the desired temperature: cone 5–10 (2167°F–2345°F / 1186°C–1285°C). The sample tile was fired at cone 6 oxidation (1222 °C/2232 °F). Testing is recommended. Results may vary.

Storage:
Due to the thickness of Melt Gloop, it is recommended to distribute the glaze evenly after application by gently tapping the product jar on a tabletop. This helps reduce unevenness in the glaze that can lead to problems during drying.

Tips for Use (in Brief):

1. Effects are achieved by applying the glaze with a spray bottle or squeeze bottle to unfired or soft-fired, cone 04 stoneware bisque (1940°F/1060°C).
2. For a more dynamic effect and a dripping appearance, apply larger dots to a vertical surface.
3. The glaze may flow over textured surfaces.
4. For better adhesion, you can dampen the bisque with a sponge before application.
5. If the layers are too thick or you work the glaze too much, it may peel off. Work carefully.
6. Can be layered and marbled with other Melt Gloop colors.
7. When using Melt Gloop over a stoneware engobe or underglaze, it is recommended that you bisque fire the piece to cone 04 before applying Melt Gloop.
8. The glaze retains its dimensionality over underglazes and stoneware engobes; it becomes flat just below or above a glaze.
9. It is recommended that you bake your piece as soon as possible to prevent problems with the glaze adhering properly.
10. When applied as a horizontal line, the baked glaze effect may peel or crack, causing it to form vertical drips.
11. When applying layers, it is recommended to apply the glaze to the shoulder or rim of the piece to promote adhesion.
