About us

Our history - From passion to expertise

More than 20 years ago, the journey began with a single pot on the potter’s wheel. As soon as Agnes was introduced to pottery, she was immediately sold. What began as a personal passion quickly grew into a full-time occupation. She delved deeper and deeper into ceramics, experimenting with different techniques and glazes.

During her search for the right materials, Agnes ran into a problem: there was little information available about glazes and tools. She bought products without knowing exactly how they worked and found that she ended up leaving them unused in the cabinet. This frustrated her, but also gave her an idea: what if she could create a place where ceramists had the right knowledge and guidance?

Thus was born Ceramics and Glaze. What began as a small webshop grew into a specialized store where both beginners and experienced ceramists can not only buy high-quality products, but also get clear explanations and advice. Meanwhile, Keramiek & Glazuur has become the place for ceramists and potters, at home and abroad, who want to increase their knowledge and want to work with glazes and tools with confidence.

In addition, Agnes continues to share her love of craft by giving workshops and courses. This allows people not only to purchase products, but also to learn how to use them to their best advantage. Today we combine knowledge, practical experience and a wide range of products to support ceramists and potters of all levels.

General - Our Expertise & Specialization

At Ceramics & Glazes, quality and knowledge are our focus. We are a specialized supplier of ceramic supplies and a trusted address for both beginning and experienced ceramists and potters. In addition to offering high-quality products, we believe it is important to provide our customers with the right information and support so they can work on their projects with confidence.

We are an official distributor of renowned American brands such as Amaco, Coyote and Speedball and offer a wide range of glazes and tools. Our close cooperation with these brands allows us to provide our customers with the latest products and guarantee a carefully selected range. With a strong growing network of customers and partners in the Netherlands and the EU, we continue to innovate and respond to the needs of ceramists.

Our studio, (web) store and warehouse

At The Potter, we have three departments that work seamlessly together to provide you with everything you need for your ceramic projects.

The Atelier - The Pottery

Our studio is the creative space where everything begins. This is where the workshops and courses are held and where you can find inspiration. In the studio you will find many examples of glaze combinations, so you can see how our glazes look on different objects such as vases, pots and mugs. This is the perfect place to get ideas and explore.

We also have an extensive glaze wall, on which hang sample tiles of all the glazes we offer. This gives a clear picture of how the colors and effects turn out on the clay and helps you choose the right color and combinations.

The (web) store

Our (web) store offers you the chance to physically see everything you can find in the web shop. Are you looking for advice or do you have specific questions about our products? Then you are welcome to drop by. We will be happy to provide you with expert advice and help you find the right materials for your project. Orders can also be picked up at our shop, so you can have the products in your hands right away and ask any questions you may have.

The Warehouse

Behind the scenes is our spacious and well-organized warehouse, the place where deliveries from America, often in large containers, are processed directly. The size of our warehouse allows us to maintain a large inventory of tools, glazes and materials from top brands such as Amaco, Coyote, Mayco and Speedball. This allows us to provide both individuals and stores with the right products quickly.

Our team - The people behind Ceramics and Glaze

Agnes - Owner

Agnes is the driving force behind Ceramics and Glazes. With over 20 years of experience in pottery and glazes, she is the specialist in the field. She is known for her extensive knowledge of glaze combinations and her passion for sharing this knowledge. Besides running the webshop and store, Agnes gives courses and workshops in pottery and glazing techniques at the Potter. Thanks in part to her background as a teacher, transferring information also remains one of her passions.

Ylze - Webshop and Marketing

As a graduate of CO-IEMES at Fontys, I specialize in marketing and communication. At Ceramics and Glaze, I deal with managing the webshop, marketing activities and customer communications. In addition, I help process orders and ensure that large deliveries are processed quickly and efficiently. With my eye for detail and structured approach, I make sure that everything runs smoothly so that ceramists have the right products in their hands quickly.

Laura

Hi, I’m Laura.

After graduating from the SintLucas in Boxtel as a ceramics professional, I had the opportunity to do my final internship at the Potter. Here I was first introduced to the world of American glazes and tools. Since then I have not left! At the Potter I was able to learn a lot about the different glazes and tools. You can find me in the studio store, where I love to help customers find the right products and give advice on how to use them.

Britt

Hi, I’m Britt.

With a background as a product designer at the Utrecht School of the Arts, I am always looking for new ways to express my creativity. My passion for crafts and ceramics brought me to De Pottenbakster, where I enjoy working two days a week. Here I learn more about ceramics and help in different processes. From supporting in the production line to trying out new techniques – I do it all with great enthusiasm!

I also work with my colleagues to ensure that all web orders are carefully packed, packaged and shipped. In the studio store I am on hand to advise customers and help them find the perfect glazes and tools. You can also come across me during Agnes’ workshops and courses, where I am happy to support and give advice in the store afterwards.
