Cone 6: Mint Speck is a satin-matte, semi-opaque mint green color that breaks over texture. Contains small purple, orange and yellow speckles. This glaze is very stable.
Cone 10: Changes to a shiny, transparent light blue. Flecks fade and lose definition with increasing layer thickness. Remains stable.
Suitable for tableware and food safe
Tips:
– Mint Speck uses SW135 Wintergreen as its base glaze.
– We recommend firing our matte glazes to cone 6 for a satiny matte finish.
– When opened, speckles will be concentrated at the bottom of the bottle. Stir/shake well before each use.
– Can be used in oxidizing or reducing fires. Results may vary.
– The choice of clay body, thickness of glaze, firing process and temperature affect the fired results. Always test in the kiln, on the clay body.

Stoneware matte glazes range from solid shades to glazes that create interesting color variations as they move and break. Thickness of application is the key to the success of matte glazes.
The shards shown were fired flat on a white clay to cone 6 oxidation and cone 10 reduction. The choice of clay body, thickness of glaze, firing process and temperature affect the fired results.
